One Billion Rising - Monterey Peninsula (Start a Rising)

How can I possibly begin to describe what a glorious event tonight was?  Thank you for sharing this remarkable journey with me.  My heart is bursting with the radiant glow of all of your faces.  Each of us heard the call to Rise, from deep down in our bones and we answered that call with fierce joy and clear intention. I was enveloped and held by the beauty, love and purity of all of us coming together to stand up for women, children, and men as well.

I will never forget the gift of this night and the power of what we created and shared together.

Blessings and sweet dreams of the loving, safe world we are manifesting,

Sarah

Specific Details:

Join us as we gather at the Monterey Center for Spiritual Living (400 W. Franklin St; the corner of Franklin and Pacific Streets) in Downtown Monterey at 4:00.  Speakers, booths, information about local community organizations/resources, and music will energize us.

We will hit the sidewalk, march and RISE UP at 4:45. We will sing and drum by candlelight, walking a route which begins at the Center down to Alvarado Street. We will process in a loop along Alvarado Street returning to The Monterey Center for Spiritual Living.   We will be welcomed back by musicians playing.  You are welcome to remain at the Center rather than join the candlelight procession.  We will continue to dance in a community of all our sisters and brothers, united to Rise Up and Demand an end to rape and sexual violence.

PLEASE NOTE:  It is with deep disappointment that I announce: All outdoor Flash Mob performances in Monterey have had to be changed.  We were not issued a permit  for any performances outside.

We have assembled a remarkable group of local and international artists who will join us for the entire event, as well as perform.

We are looking for many volunteers!  We need people to pick up food, monitor the street crossings, assist with beverages, and so much more.  We need food to feed our volunteers!  We need snacks for the event!  (Drop off at the Center For Spiritual Living from 12:00 on on Thursday) Contact Sarah at saxby.sarah@gmail.com if you have time to volunteer and if you wish to be part of the Flash Mob.

This is a family and child friendly event!

This is a FREE event, yet DONATIONS will be greatly appreciated at the door to help cover the expenses of hosting an event of this magnitude.

Thank you for joining us.  Together, along with our sisters and brothers all around the world, we can create a world that is safe for all of us!
