As the closing of One Billion Rising for Justice 2014 Campaign is approaching, we are delighted to share some pictures and details of the ongoing and recent activities in Pakistan. In collaboration with Insan Foundation Trust (IFT) – group skits and painting competitions on gender issues and women’s rights were organized in 32 schools covering Khyber Pakhtunkhaw and Punjab provinces of Pakistan. These activities will carry on till 14th of February 2014. Additionally students of fine arts and media from University of Balochistan are also engaged by IFT for final OBR event o 14th February 2014. Prior to this, these students have been given different awareness sessions on women’s issues and OBR campaign. In collaboration with Swat Youth Front (SYF), OBR signature campaign was initiated in two grand schools from Swat. Special efforts were made to kick off this campaign because of the resistance faced due to religious extremism.
Furthermore, we are planning three mega events on/by 14th February 2014. Insan Foundation Trust in collaboration with Szabist University – Islamabad is organizing final OBR event on 13th February 2014. The event will include documentaries and songs on women’s issues and rising. AMAL in collaboration with Kuch khaas is organizing final OBR event on 14th February 2014. The event will include a special choreographed dance performance for OBR by famous classic dancer “Nighat Chaudhary” and her troupe.
Swath Youth Front is organizing a seminar on February 14th “Justice for All” on the implementation of provincial bill “Enforcement of women Ownership Right Act 2012”. Women, lawyers, religious scholars, journalists, students, teachers and civil society members will participate in this seminar.
