Family Resource Center (FRC) has been providing services to victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and other Violent Crimes for over 32 years. We serve from offices in St. Thomas and St. John. Our centerpiece is our Alice Hamilton Safehouse, housing up to twenty victims at a time. We also offer a 24 hour hotline, (340) 776-STOP (7867) and crisis responders, our VIVA's (Virgin Islands Victim Advocates). These trained volunteers respond to victims needs after our main offices are closed, during weekends and holidays.
We take pride in the work that we do, and it is evident to our victims, partners, neighbors and supporters.
Our services include:
Education and Outreach - taking the message of non-violent and healthy relationships to schools, civic organizations, churches and at community events.
Counseling - providing counseling at no charge to victims of crime; individual or group
Intervention - providing Parenting Classes, Adolescent sessions, Rights of Passage for Boys, Rights of Passage of Girls, Men Terminating Violence (Batterer's Intervention), Women of Worth on two islands, and Women Anger Management (Batterer's Intervention)
Safety - provide emergency Safehouse services with wrap around services; Transition housing in 2015.
Court and Legal Advocacy - attend weekly family court proceedings to include translation and expert testimony; assist in immigration matters for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
Clothing / Food - provision of clothing and food for victims of crime through our "Second Chance Boutique", CeCe's Closet on Bunker Hill. Victims select clothing appropriate for court, job seeking, employment or to fill a need. Victims also can receive food, toiletry and household items to assist with transition.
Legislation – FRC Executive Director engages with lawmakers for vital issues affecting victims of crime and for penalties that work. This is done by generating proposals to our Senators and testifying at hearings.
